Could Your Excessively Shy Child have Social Phobia?

Could excessive shyness in your child be Social Phobia?

I am still behind with Blogtober17, we have a bug in house, first Finlay, yesterday Emmie and yesterday I woke with it. I am going to power through though. To help me I am going to combine the two topics of Old Photos and Phobias. I have spoken briefly about suffering with anxiety and I even touched upon having anxiety as a child. Well, when I was looking through my old photos I came across the one above. It’s our family holiday when I was about 4. I don’t remember much of it but everyone looks pretty happy apart from me. And I remembered, the sheer terror I was feeling. You can just make it out in my frown, my wide eyes and holding tightly onto my own hands. I was petrified. There were so many people in this room (I think it may have been a Haven Entertainment evening).… Read More

How To Make an Easy Pumpkin Pie This Halloween!

how to make an easy halloween pumpkin pie recipe

Halloween would not be complete without a pumpkin. Often though, as we carve them into Jack-o laterns, the innards are just strewn into the bin to rot. What a waste! I have been guilty of this too. It wasn’t until last year and I decided to grab a cookbook and make Pumpkin Pie, that I realised howdeliciouss it really was! So this year I really wanted to post a Pumpkin Pie recipe so you too can use every last bit of your pumpkin!

Now, unfortunatley with a  new baby I just haven’t had the time (or energy) to experiment in the kitchen. However, one of my fellow bloggers has! Donna from Bobsy’s Mum has very kindly offered to Guest Post for me. Donna, a busy mum herself, shares her own recipes on her blog which she describes as mostly super kid friendly and offers advice on how to save time and money and most importantly enjoy cooking when you are busy!… Read More

Making Memories with Wind in the Willows

making memories, reading with Wind in the willows

I’m still playing catch up with Blogtober17, hopefully that will be sorted today. Today, or yesterdays topic was ‘Novel’. As with most of the topics I have tried to keep them in balance with the type of content I would normally publish on my blog. So today I have asked Chris if he would like to write a small piece for this topic, to which he happily obliged. I asked Chris because he has such fond memories of reading with his mum when he was small. The Wind in the Willows has an extra special place in his heart and he has begun creating new memories of Wind in the Willows with Finlay.

So, here it is. Enjoy…

If the qutote above sounds familiar, you are probably lucky enough to be one of the last generations to have enjoyed an almost technology-free childhood, before the “International Super Highway”, touch screen tablets and smart phones became honorary members of our family units – So rudely uninvited, in retrospect.… Read More

11 Not so Scary Halloween Films for Kids!

11 not so scary Halloween films for Kids

A few days ago I suggested 11 Horror Comedies for those who have a more faint disposition. Today the focus is on Children. Finlay loves to take part anything thats goin on and Halloween is no exception. To be honest I think Horror is in his blood, Chris loves it and always did as a child. Finlay seems to be the same, nothing really scares him. However, don’t think I let him watch any old horror, there are boundaries as much as he pleads. So today, bearing in mind the Blogtober17 topic (well yesterdays) is Movies, I bring you 11 Not so Scary Halloween Films for Kids!

9 Baby Products I Love For Little Girls!

9 of the best baby products for girls

Still a day behind with Blogtober17, I was hoping to get back on track this evening but Finlay has gone down with the puking bug from hell. Our house stinks, in fact I’m pretty sure everything stinks. We have been through two bed covers, one bath and one shower in the space of a few hours. Poor sausage!

Anyway, to lighten the mood and rid the stink, lets talk above love. The topic for Blogtober Day 12. There’s loads of things I could talk about here, but I have seen so many adorable baby items recently. I just had to share some of the most recent baby items I am loving right now!

Mum’s Recommended: 5 of the Best Toy Kitchens

Mum's Recommended 5 of the best toy kitchens

Running late with this one! Here I have Blogtober17 day 11, which was yesterdays, oops! The topic is Kitchens!

My spin on todays topic is all about role play, toy Kitchens to be precise! I always wanted a toy kitchen when I was little, I never got one! So I knew I wanted to get one for my child. Even though Fins a boy, I didn’t want him to miss out on such a great toy just because he wasn’t the right gender. Luckily, when I began shopping for a kitchen for him, manufacturers had recognised this. As a result a lot more gender neutral designs were on offer. However, it was a minefield. So many to choose from. So I decided to do a round up of some of the best lovedtoy kitchens with the help from a few of my blogging buddies!

Today I am….7 Months old!

Today I am 7 months old find out what milestones Emmie has met

It’s October! Somehow, even though I am heavily involved in Blogtober17 and Blogoween, I am relatively on time with this one bar a few days. The only reason it’s slightly late is that when Emmeline turned 7 months on the 06th October it was in the middle of weigh in days. So I opted to go to the one after, which was today, rather than the one before. It does seem like it was only yesterday I posted Emmeline’s 6 month update. However, I was a few weeks late with that one! Well, this month has been a bit different to the normal. Find out below in Emmeline’s Today I am 7 Months old!

Weight: 15 lb 2.5 Oz

Weigh in has confirmed Emmeline is still a little one. She hasn’t moved up or down the percentiles but is nicely following the 13th percentile. I do worry because she is small.… Read More

11 Horror Comedy Movies: Halloween fun for the Fainthearted

11 Horror comedy Movies for Halloween

Halloween is the perfect time to sit back and scare yourself half to death with a good old Horror Movie. However, not everybody likes to be scared. Not everyone enjoys a Horror Movie. Then what do you do? Miss out? Because Horror is pretty much everywhere for the next few weeks. Lucky for you, there is the Horror Com Genre of film. Basically, it’s what it says on the packet, Comedy Horrors! These films take all the best bit’s of Horrors but instead of trying to scare the poop out of you, they swap the screams for laughs. I thought this fitted in nicely with Blogtober17 Day 10 – Jokes. It’s also not a completely obscure post as it sits nicely within my Blogoween Halloween Series too!

So today I bring you 11 of the best Horror Com movies for the more fainthearted Halloween fan:
