Still a day behind with Blogtober17, I was hoping to get back on track this evening but Finlay has gone down with the puking bug from hell. Our house stinks, in fact I’m pretty sure everything stinks. We have been through two bed covers, one bath and one shower in the space of a few hours. Poor sausage!
Anyway, to lighten the mood and rid the stink, lets talk above love. The topic for Blogtober Day 12. There’s loads of things I could talk about here, but I have seen so many adorable baby items recently. I just had to share some of the most recent baby items I am loving right now!
It’s October! Somehow, even though I am heavily involved in Blogtober17 and Blogoween, I am relatively on time with this one bar a few days. The only reason it’s slightly late is that when Emmeline turned 7 months on the 06th October it was in the middle of weigh in days. So I opted to go to the one after, which was today, rather than the one before. It does seem like it was only yesterday I posted Emmeline’s 6 month update. However, I was a few weeks late with that one! Well, this month has been a bit different to the normal. Find out below in Emmeline’s Today I am 7 Months old!
Weight: 15 lb 2.5 Oz
Weigh in has confirmed Emmeline is still a little one. She hasn’t moved up or down the percentiles but is nicely following the 13th percentile. I do worry because she is small.… Read More
It’s Blogtober day 7 and todays topic is goals! There is one goal in my life that I have set and class as one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would do it all again in heartbeat if I had to. It may seem small and insignificant to some, but for me it was everything. I basically set out to raise £2500 in 90 days. Why? To pay for Private Medical treatment for my Son, Finlay.
Finlay was born with severe Plagiocephaly and form of flat head syndrome. His head was a rhombus shape, his skull plates were all crossed which resulted in his facial features being pushed out of alignment. This is a brief overview, but you can read in more depth here and here.
For many months we were advised it would self correct with positioning techniques. We even paid £100’s of pounds for a cranial oesteopath.… Read More
I know, I know I am late with this one again. Emmie turned 6 months on the 06th September, wow! Half a year, how did that happen?! The last few weeks since my last update have passed in a bit of a blur to be honest as Finlay started school. So we’re just getting used to our new routine. So really Emmies half year milestone kind of blended into life, I hear that happens a lot with number two, and well anymore after that just have to be thankful for a birthday card haha! Seriously though, I don’t remember time passing quite so fast with Finlay. How it happened I don’t know, but today Emmie is 6 months old!
weight: 14lb 4oz
So last month I began with Emmie’s slight drop on the percentiles as it kind of threw me off guard. To be honest, it was silly, but as I am a natural worrier it got to me.… Read More
Everybody loves a gorgeous, soft baby toy. I was lucky enough to be asked by GUND to review a couple of items from their new 2017 ‘Jungle Friends‘ range, and boy do GUND do gorgeous, soft baby toys!
GUND – is America’s most prestigious soft toy company with a heritage that reaches back to 1898. Famous for creating the world’s most huggable soft bears and animals. Monkey Rattle: The Monkey Rattle is priced at £6.95 and is made from special heathered fabric. This gives the rattle a really beautiful hue to it’s appearence. The fabric is also very soft and inviting to touch. Inside, the stuffing is dense but produces a really soft squishy feel.… Read More
Everybody knows that babies can be expensive. As soon as you’re pregnant, you are bombarded with ‘buy this for your baby, buy that’. There’s also a lot of mum shaming out there, unfortunately. This makes many mums feel like they have to keep up with the Jones. Everything must be from a premium brand, everything must be organic, everything must cost £££’s because if it doesn’t? It makes you the worst parent in the history of parenting. Does this sound familiar?
How unfair is it to be made to feel like this? Especially when for most of us, we are at our lowest point financially. But what if I was to tell you that you can buy premium brands at a discount price? You can buy organic without the hefty price tag and you can even buy cheap baby essentials that have beaten some of the premium brands time and time again in prestigious baby and toddler awards?… Read More
Baltic Amber strung into jewellery has been long been hailed by many mums as a way to soothe babies through teething. Those who use Amber beads, swear by them, but there are also many that are sceptical of the healing properties they are supposed to possess. Then, there are also the safety concerns of babies wearing jewellery.
As Emmie is showing more and more signs of teething, I have begun once again to think how I can help soothe her sore gums. Teething gels are having little effect and although she doesn’t seem too bad with her symptoms, her drooling and mouth full of fist tell me she is feeling it! Finlay was never too bad with his teething and we sporadically used Amber beads, but I wanted to dig deeper to see if it could be the answer for Emmie.
So what’s the story behind Baltic Amber?
Amber has been used for centuries and was once thought to hold magical powers protecting the wearer from evil spirits and diseases.… Read More
Breastfeeding, something I wasn’t able to do with Finlay, but desperate to do with Emmie. I never quite believed it would happen. Almost 5 Months later, I am still exclusively breastfeeding!! I won’t lie, it hasn’t been easy. There were times I thought I couldn’t do it, but I persevered to a point where I was happy and confident in feeding my baby. Then Emmie began to grow and move, ECK!!
As if my pleas for help were heard, I was offered the chance to review some Boobie Beads (fantastic feeding and teething jewellery). Created by a mum for mums, Boobie Beads provide a welcome distraction for babies whilst feeding and double up as a teether. Made from soft silicone, BPA and toxin free, they make the perfect choice for little ones to play and chew on. I was sent a gorgeous orange and pink necklace to try out.… Read More
I’m running a few weeks late with this update. My excuses reasons are: Allergic reaction to conjunctivitis (me), Sickness bug (Emmie and Fin), Head Injury (Fin), Birth of new Cousin (Aunty) and a week off together (the four of us)!!
However, on 06th July Emmie turned 4 months! I feel like a broken record but really, has a month passed since Emmie’s 3 month update? Time continues to fly by incredibly fast and Emmie is growing bigger by the day, the past month has been incredible and we have hit some exciting milestones before they were even expected!
Weight: 12lbs 6oz
So this past month, Emmie went bald!!! Not completely, she had a fine covering, but considering she was born with lots of dark hair, she has turned into a little egg head. I expect it will grow back like Fin’s as they seem to be quite similar in colouring, time will tell.… Read More
