‘I wrote to the zoo, to send me a pet’ says the first line of Rod Campbells best selling lift flap book, ‘Dear Zoo‘. The story of a child who writes to the zoo asking them to send a pet. First published in 1982, and selling more than 8 million copies worldwide. I would say it’s no wonder most parents are familiar with this line! I would say it’s a right of passage for babies and toddlers to read. I’m hereby delighted to announce that Dear Zoo Live is back in 2019. Including a visit to the Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne!

Are zoos cruel or beneficial? I’m sure this is a question that has passed through your mind many times as a parent. Deciding if you should or shouldn’t visit a zoo with the kids. It is certainly a controversial subject, and I’m sure there isn’t a right or wrong answer. In an idealistic world, there would be no zoos. However, sadly today, there is a need to step in. Gone are the days when zoos are just an attraction for human entertainment. Species are now at risk of extinction. This is where zoos, in an unidealistic world can provide a safe haven. I’m not writing this post to convince you that Zoos are great. I believe every zoo could benefit from some improvement. However, hopefully I can provide you with some information, to make up your own mind to the question; Are zoos are cruel or beneficial?
I have an MSc in Conservation Science, I’m not an expert but I have been taught a lot about the work Zoos undertake.… Read More

We knew it was coming, it had been forecast, but waking up to the rain and grey skies was a tad gloomy. Especially after the glorious sunshine of the past few days. Apparently in the south we were hotter than Thailand, and it was glorious!
Rainy days come with mixed emotions in our house. I love the sunshine, the long days of summer. Chris on the other hand, can’t wait for autumn and the cozy storms it brings. Finlay, well come rain or shine he loves being out. However, he especially loves a play in the rain. He’s a typical boy as soon as there’s a puddle, he is in it. So when I asked him if he wanted to go out and splash in some puddles, I got a massive yes and he kissed my knee and said “THANK YOU MUMMY”!! He was happy. However, I know venturing out in the rain isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, so I thought I would share some of our other rainy day activities to inspire you.… Read More
