Biocare Review: adult & children's probiotics vitamins to keep healthy this winter

Winter is that time of year when germs are rife. Catching a cold is almost as certain as rain on a warm summers day! Children are especially vulnerable. Especially during the new terms if they attend School or Nursery. That’s where BioCare come in. BioCare suggest the single most important thing you can do to support your immunity this winter is to take a daily probiotic.

With almost 30 years expertise in developing professional nutritional supplements, BioCare has perfected their Probiotic range that helps to support our immune systems and help reduce the number of infections we catch. Surprisingly, most of our immune system is found in our gut.  Probiotics help to keep the immune system active by keeping the gut bacteria on low level alert. Therefore supporting its function. Fascinating! When asked if I wanted to review a few products from the probiotic range I jumped at the chance. If there’s a way to help prevent me getting poorly, then I’ll take it!

The first item I was sent was the Brand new Children’s Red Berry BioMelts, £17.95, suitable for children 3+. The BioMelts are a combination of Live Bacteria, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and Bifidobacterium lactis (3 billion) and Vitamin D. The packet contains 28, 1g convenient powder sachets. The red Berry flavour is a mix or Strawberry and Raspberry that melts on the tongue. The BioMelts Contains no artificial flavours or colours and is free from common allergens. They are also naturally sweetened with prebiotic xylitol.

The second product was the Everyday BioAcidophilus, £13.96. The packet contains 4x 7 day vegetarian Capsules. These contain 10 billion of the clinically-researched LAB4 combination per capsule with two specific proprietary strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus along with Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium lactis. Unlike other probiotics, this product does not need refrigeration, bonus. Keep it in your bag, or in your desk, so you won’t forget them!

So what do we think having almost finished our month’s supply? To be honest I was a little nervous to give these to Finlay. He can be a little bit fussy and stubborn, especially with stuff he has never had before. However, I need not have worried, the BioMelts are that delicious, Finlay thinks I’m giving him sweets, that’s what he said when I asked what he thought they taste like. He looks forward to his little ‘treat’ now. I had to give it a little taste test too, naturally! These really are yummy!

Health wise, considering Finlay has just started school and he always had a number 11 dangling from his nose at nursery, he seems germ free, even though Emmie has picked a cold up. Myself, considering I am so rundown with tiredness, I have been feeling good health wise. No bugs yet. I found the capsules easy to swallow with and they left no nasty aftertaste. These both get a definite thumbs up from both of us. If your looking to try and support your immunity this winter than I definitely recommend giving these Biocare products a go!

  1. I get the multivitamins out for the winter months and make sure there’s always plenty of natural vitamin c around in the form of fruit juices and oranges.

  2. eat well, stay well is my motto. I overhauled my diet at the beginning of the year and feel so much better. I only eat “real food” no diet products, artificial sweeteners, ready meals and sugar is very limited to a few berries. Since doing this I have not been ill once and have much more energy. I’m working on getting my son on board!

  3. To have lots of fresh vegetables and fish, plently of water and vitamins, i always keep fresh lemons and honey for sniffles and wearing thin layers and a good warm hat !

  4. take a walk everyday even when it is cold as the fresh air does wonders
Eat hearty soups and stews with plenty of veg
keep warm and have a flu jab if like me your immune system is bad

  5. Keep warm and hydrated and if possible place your kids in temporary foster care because you’re always going to get ill with them about. Well at least I do! 😉

  6. I chop up fresh lemon and grate some fresh ginger, I put this in a glass jam jar and fill with honey. You can store it in the fridge and then whenever you want fresh honey, lemon and ginger tea you just add a couple of spoonfulls to a cup of boiling water.

  7. Make sure you take time for yourself to relax and re energise it can be so easy to get swept up into the excitement of Christmas and trying to fit in too many things.

  8. 30 drops of Echinacea each day for a month alternating with a month of oregano oil in a daily warm foot bath. Also a hot pad on the back of the neck has stopped a virus in its tracks many times for me! 🙂
